The Mack (Casual Connection Late Night Groove Rework)

This is a real beauty. Casual Connection brings you this lush edit of Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack... simply named The Mack.

Casual Connection are 'partners in music' from Perth, Western Australia, consisting of Eyan & Ru-Kasu.

A brief description from their Facebook page says,

"Both avid lovers of disco and all shit funky. :D"

Sums them up pretty well I think.

Head on over to their SoundCloud page for this little beauty & check out the rest of their work while you're there...

Enjoy.

Late Nite Tuff Guy (LNTG) - Baby You Fooled Around (Late Nite Tuff Guy Rework)

It's been a while huh.  Life kinda got in the way but whatevs...  let's get back to the music.

I completely adore this edit by Australias very own 'Late Nite Tuff Guy' (LNTG).. also known as Cam Bianchetti to his Momma.   Nearly 3 years on & it's still a regular on my playlist.

LNTG as described on his website:

"Tuff, dark and handsome - LNTG is a night over night disco babble sensation that is the result of a tub of oil, a fear of daylight and a secret love for all the other Jacksons."

It's a pretty perfect description.

Baby You Fooled Around is from the album 'Love Somebody Today' which was released in February 1980 by Sister Sledge.  A less successful album than their third album release, 'We Are Family', however, the best thing about this album is the delightful "Baby You Fooled Around"

Here is LNTG's edit of that magical song. Have a listen...

You can find LNTG over at his WebsiteSoundCloud & facebook for more info.

Music Harmony and Rhythm - Deep Disco Beats...

Discontinuous Function brings us this mix, Music Harmony and Rhythm - Deep Disco Beats...

I came across this mix a few days ago & have listened to it about six times in the last two days. Seriously, it gets better with each listen.

Every now & then you come across someone who takes you on a musical journey. Someone who tells you a story & all you want to do, is listen.  Discontinuous Function will do just that. Utter joy!

The only problem I found with Discontinuous Function, was wondering which mix to blog here. There are some absolute gems on his Soundcloud page. Rare funk, disco rares, electro classics & more.

Music Harmony and Rhythm - Deep Disco Beats...

There isn't a lot of information out there about Discontinuous Function. What I do know however, is that he is also known as DJ Leonard F & he hails from South East London.

His Facebook page, which can be found here, reveals this delightful quote...

"Our lives are shaped by what we love."

You just *know* after listening, that there is someone special behind this. Go on... go check him out.

What I'm Gonna Do For Your Love - ReGrooved featuring Kerrie Manuel (Snippet) Available to buy now!

This is such a beautiful tune, how could I not feature it here & still sleep at night?

Anyway...

What I'm Gonna Do For Your Love - ReGrooved featuring Kerrie Manuel, is a super soulful track with a great bass & sultry vocals, that hits all the right spots.

It's available for purchase now, so jump to it!

You won't regret it.

What I'm Gonna Do For Your Love - ReGrooved featuring Kerrie Manuel (Snippet) Available to buy now!

A little background information about ReGrooved (Neil Thompson. Also known as Neil Tomo) copied from his Facebook page:

"After a lifetime of loving those special moments in a track that gives you goosebumps and enforced rewinds, I thought it was about time I tried to create some of those moments for myself. Back in the late 80s / early 90s I knew what I wanted to do but I just didn't have the equipment or budget to do it, so it got shelved for nearly 20 years whilst I got all grown up with a proper job and a lovely family.

Then after getting a USB turntable I started converting all my vinyl to MP3s and working with Audacity...then one thing led to another and I found myself doing edits, extended mixes and mash-ups of all my favourite soul / funk / hip-hop tracks. Bliss!!!

Since then I've moved onto Cubase5 (now 6) and I haven't looked back. What started out as a very personal thing soon developed into a more public thing and I'm lucky enough that other people In the UK soul scene like what I've been doing....which I never ever take for granted.

In the last 12 months I've worked with Incognito, Kenny Thomas, West Coast Soulstars, Tom Glide & The Luv All Stars, Soularis, etc to name but a few...love em all to bits!

I love a female BV, I simply worship at the feet of a crackin' bassline and I'd gladly sell my sister (if I had one) for strings that send a shiver down your spine!!"

You can see & hear about ReGrooved & Neil Thompson at his Facebook page.

Enjoy!

Beaten Space Probe - Nine Lives

Carrying on with my Beaten Space Probe obsession of late, here Shota gives us 'Nine Lives.

An absolute auralgasm.  If this doesn't get your head nodding & your hips swaying involuntary, seek help...

BSP 001 - Beaten Space Probe - Nine Lives (112kbps lo-res preview)

This one isn't a free download. Buy it (like I did!).

When people pay for music they love, it ensures the continuation of good music. We all love a freebie but we need to support the artists as much as we can, when we can.

OK.. lecture over! ("THANKS MUM!")

Here's a bit of background information behind this tune.

The original - Heartache No.9 was released in 1979 by a British soul/funk/disco band called Delegation. It reached #57 on the American Disco Charts & reached #66 on the American R&B chart in the summer of 1980.

Formed in 1975 by Ricky Bailey, Delegation are having a bit of a comeback. You can find out more information here: http://www.delegationband.com/

For those of you with a keen ear, you may have recognised Heartache No.9 sampled in these house tracks of the last decade:

Tonite by Phats & Small (1999)

Till next time.

Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio - It's Time To Party Now (Beaten Space Probe Re-Edit)

I stumbled across Beaten Space Probe while listening to a mix on the weekend.  I recognised the edit of 'Boogie Prancing', as Greg Wilson seemed to spin it in every mix he did for the last 6 months, (I'm not complaining...) but I had no idea who was behind it.

Luckily, a click here & a click there & I found him on Soundcloud.  I am now seriously hooked on this absolute gem - Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio - It's Time To Party Now (Beaten Space Probe Re-Edit). (Original released in 1980)

Beaten Space Probe is Shota Tanaka from Tokyo. An avid crate digger who, whilst holding down not only a 9-5 office job, also has four, yes FOUR residencies throughout the city. DUDE!!

Sometimes I can find re-edits a bit... well... drawn out. However, Shota manages to keep the original integrity of this song while also adding his special touch. The respect he has for the original is clear to hear on this re-edit. It is utter joy.

This will be the first in a few Beaten Space Probe posts. When you hear this, you'll know why.

Run!  Don't walk... over to Soundcloud & get this free download while it lasts.

Enjoy...

Donna Allen - Serious (Fingerman's 80's Beatdown)

Fingerman is back with another edit for your listening pleasure.

A former cheerleader, Donna sang back up on tour with Gloria Estafan for nine years before launching her own solo career.  Her single Serious, got to No. 8 in the UK singles chart  in 1987.   UK dance act  Strike used the chorus hook line from Serious as the basis of their hit 'U Sure Do' in 1995.

Anyway enough from me. Once again, you can stagger over to Soundcloud for the download if you have the urge.

Enjoy!

Political Graffiti

After two particularly long & exhausting days had left me a little on the grumpy side, I spotted this & immediately reverted to a giggling 14 year old.

He's local AND active.

Thanks Roger...

Fancy Seeing You Here...

I'd forgotten about this blog. Made many moons ago & full of nothing remotely interesting. So I did a little decorating, threw out all the rubbish & renamed it.

Right then. Let's get on with the show shall we?
